Dynamic diplomacy helps enhance Iran regional influence

Tehran, IRNA - The administration of President Ebrahim Raisi has focused on the expansion of ties with neighboring and regional states, a policy that would improve Iran's influence in the West Asia region and help Tehran to benefit from the capacities of other countries.

The 13th administration in Tehran sees the enhancement of relationships with neighbors as a strategic move. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs pursues the policy.
Mahdi Safari, Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy, emphasized that the diplomacy apparatus in Iran tries to develop economic, diplomatic, cultural and historical cooperation with neighboring states in accordance with the Islamic Republic's interests.
The 17th Extraordinary Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) kicked off on December 19 in Islamabad, Pakistan. The Islamic Republic of Iran has been praised for its humanitarian efforts in assisting Afghan refugees as well as having a positive influence in recent developments in Afghanistan.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian held talks with representatives from other member states and Pakistani officials, who were hosting the event. Amirabdollahian along with his political and economic entourages discussed recent developments in the region and new ways to expand trade exchanges and political ties.
The Iranian representatives met with the Jordanian foreign minister, Pakistan's prime minister and army commander, as well as foreign ministers from Azerbaijan Republic, Turkey, Sierra Leone and Afghanistan's interim government.
It is worth mentioning that Islamic nations in different parts of Asia can assist the Islamic Republic of Iran to fight Iranophobic campaigns run by certain regimes; so, Tehran understood the potential and tried to lessen tension with Muslim neighbors particularly Saudi Arabia.
In previous years, the United States attempted to misuse Iran's relations with neighboring states to put pressure on Iranians, but Tehran can use its geopolitical situation to defuse US-imposed sanctions.
The formation of a diplomatic department in Iran's Foreign Ministry to pursue economic exchanges with neighboring states by the use of diplomatic means seems to be one of the good initiatives to resolve economic woes inside the country.
