Joint text for serious Vienna talks a positive signal: Analyst

Tehran, IRNA - Despite the fact that there are numerous important questions and open parentheses in the way of reaching consensus to lift anti-Iran sanctions and revive the 2015 nuclear deal, the result of the seventh round of Vienna talks seems to be positive following consensus on a joint text for future serious negotiations, an Iranian analyst said.

Khorasan Newspaper published a memo by political expert Hadi Mohammadi on Monday, who wrote that following six round of the Joint Commission meetings of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in Vienna, Austria, there were still many questions and differences between negotiating teams from Iran and the P4+1 group (Britain, France, Russia, and China plus Germany), because there were speculations that the new administration in Tehran consists of constant critics of the nuclear deal, but the administration of President Ebrahim Raisi proved that they seek result-oriented negotiations.

Therefore, the Iranian negotiators submitted two draft texts that are somehow different from previous texts agreed upon in Vienna. The Iranian side has time and again underlined that the new drafts have been prepared based on the JCPOA contents, but the Western parties insisted on discussing the previous Vienna texts and threatened that they may leave negotiating table, but in the end, the result of the seventh round of talks was a consensus on considering previous texts and new Iranian demands.

The Islamic Republic's new agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in order to allow the UN nuclear watchdog to replace surveillance cameras at Karaj Facility foiled the Western powers and their media outlets' plots, when they were trying to portray Iranian nuclear program as a threat.

A member of Iranian negotiating team pointed to the importance of the seventh round of Vienna talks, noting that Iran should pursue its demands in this round; so, it may end up in failure of the negotiations at this level.

However, Iran, the European Union and the P4+1 reached an agreement to continue talks based on a joint text; so, they prevented from ending up in a standstill.

Within a couple of weeks, delegations from all sides will resume talks in Vienna, but this time they have a framework and document to negotiate on lifting anti-Iran sanctions and returning to commitments under the JCPOA; although, there are many open parentheses on every topic.

The Iranian team has got relative success in pursuing Tehran's legitimate demands, but this is not the end of the game; from now on, they should work hard to grasp more concessions.
