Speaking in a meeting with Secretary of Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev on the sidelines of the third Regional Security Dialogue in New Delhi, India, Shamkhani highlighted various crises facing the region, including terrorism, military invasion, occupation, and immigration.
He said that the solution to Afghanistan crisis was to continue inter-Afghan dialogue and form an all-inclusive government in the country.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is pursuing with concern the developments in Afghanistan and the impacts of instability on the people’s livelihood and security, Shamkhani said, adding that Iran would spare no effort to help Afghan people.
Expansion of Iran-Russia ties in every field, security and joint fight against terrorism in particular, has an identifying role in regional stability, the official said.
He also noted that Iran and Russia have been targeted by US sanctions and conspiracies and should make US system of sanctions collapse.
Russia’ Patrushev expressed content over the growing ties between Iran and Russia and said that regional cooperation isn’t a matter of choice, but it is an inevitable path to sustainable security in the region.
He said that Afghanistan could come out of instability and have a better future ahead in light of coordination and synergy between its neighboring countries.
