Coronavirus could not halt medical tourism in Iran

Tehran, IRNA – Iran's Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts has said the deadly coronavirus which has expanded across the world since December 2019 could not make a halt to the arrival of medical tourists in the country.

The pandemic reduced the number of them but did not stop their arrival, Ali-Asghar Shalbafian said while addressing the 5th International Health Congress of Islamic Countries in Tehran on Monday.

Islamic Republic of Iran has not look at the issue of medical tourism economically, but the country sees it as an opportunity for introducing its medical achievements and capacities, Shalbafian underlined.

Medical tourism has world mechanism in many cases, he added.

Further, he referred to the today event as an opportunity for attract tourists through considerable capacities.

During his speech, Shalibafian called for development of health tourism in Islamic countries.

And this will happen through exchange of cultural commonalities, the official noted.

The 5th International Health Congress of Islamic Countries is underway in Tehran as of November 7 for three days.
