Amirabdollahian made the remarks speaking after the meeting in Damascus with his Syrian counterpart Faisal Mekdad.
He said that Mekdad is also due to pay a visit to Tehran within the next few days which indicates the resolve of foreign ministries of both countries to implement the decisions of the two presidents.
“We are seeking to implement the agreements we have had in recent weeks in telephone conversations between the two presidents at various political, security and economic levels,” Amirabdollahian said.
He expressed hope that “in the new stage of the life of Syria”, relations between the two countries would further increase in varied areas, including tourism, trade and mutual investments.
Noting that Syria is one of Iran’s strategic allies, Amirabdollahian said that “we have proved that we will not leave alone our friends and allies in difficult days.”
The Iranian minister also stressed the need for further enhancement of relations between Tehran and Damascus now that Syria has successfully gone through hard times.
