Iran’s Mokhtari wins silver in Tokyo Paralympics shot put

Tokyo, IRNA – Iran’s shot putter in Tokyo Paralympics Alireza Mokhtari won silver medal in men’s F-57 after he threw 8.48 meters.

Mokhtari was competing with eight rivals. In this category, Elvin Astanov from Azerbaijan Republic registering an 8.77-meter throw and improved the Paralympics record by five centimeters, receiving the gold medal.

Also, Ales Kisy from Czech Republic won the bronze medal with a throw of 8.25 meters.

Mokhtari had five throws, missing two of them. But he made it in his third throw, setting his best record of 8.48 meters.

The world record in this field has been set by Andre Rocha of Brazil who throw 8.83 meters. Mauro Máximo de Jesús from Mexico had the Paralympic record of 8.72-meter throw which was broken by Astanov.
