The event started work with a traditional music led by Navid Dehqan.
Traditional performances like Ta'zieh, Iranian narration and Siah-Bazi were also held.
Ta'zieh means comfort, condolence or expression of grief.
Siah-Bazi, also known as Siyah-Bazi is a type of Iranian folk performing art that features a blackface, mischievous and forthright harlequin that does improvisations to stir laughter.
Meanwhile, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky’s message was read in the ceremony in which he welcomed opening Iran theatre week and stressed developing cultural cooperation between Iran and Russia.
Iran will attend Saint Petersburg international cultural conference and both sides have reached agreement on promoting cooperation in producing movies, releasing books and creating connection between cultural figures, the message reads.
Medinsky referred to holding Iran theatre week as indicating both countries' firm determination to reinforce cultural ties.
