Mehdi Shahriari made the statements during a Conference of South Khorasan Academics and Elites in Bojnourd, the capital city of the southeastern province of South Khorasan, on Saturday which was attended by the world-known Iranian neurologist Professor Majid Samii.

“We are taking pride in Iranian physicians,” he said.
Elsewhere in his speech, Shahriari also referred to the interest shown by German companies to invest in Iran.
'Professor Samii unofficially represents the Iranian mission,' he said, adding, “We as diplomats have restrictions, but Dr. Samiee can do big jobs for his country,” he said.
Professor Majid Samii was born in Tehran, Iran on 19 June 1937. After having completed his high school education in Iran, he moved to Germany, where he started his medical study at the University of Mainz.
He has been the president of the International Society for Neurosurgery and was elected as the founding president of the Congress of International Neurosurgeons (MASCIN) in 2003.
