Iran's oil export from Kharg 87 percent up

Tehran, June 13, IRNA – 240 million barrels of light crude oil were exported last year (Iranian calendar) from Kharg oil terminal to Europe and Asia, up by 87 percent compared with the previous year, according to Iran Oil Terminals Company (IOTC) Managing Director.

“The most important reason for the last year rise (ending on March 20, 2017) in oil exports was the improvement of marketing and sales in the post-nuclear agreement era,” Pirouz Mousavi added on Tuesday.

He also noted that there has been a big jump in crude oil storage in Kharg and North oil terminals.

Big steps have been taken to develop the oil terminals, and some major plans have been conducted with some others on agenda, according to the Managing Director.

Some 780 million barrels of oil were exported from Kharg terminal last year, including 240 million barrels of light crude oil, he said.

Over 800 ships docked in the terminal to load crude oil last year, which shows a significant growth compared to the figure 540 of the previous year.

IOTC, one of the subordinate companies of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), is active in storage, laboratory services, export and import operation, petroleum products, gas condensates and maritime services.

Kharg is the largest oil export terminal south of Iran that accounts for the largest part of oil export of the country.
