The terrorist team commander being at the border regions fled the country after knowing about the annihilation of his team members, Alavi said, while pointing to the clues discovered by the intelligence forces after the Wednesday terrorist assault on Iran’s Majlis (Parliament) and the late Imam Khomeini Mausoleum which left 17 dead.
According to the world’s most professional intelligence agencies, Iran’s Intelligence Ministry is among the most professional, powerful and predominant services in all areas, particularly in the field of counter-terrorism activities, Alavi said in a televised interview with the state TV channel on Saturday evening.
During the interview, the intelligence minister expressed sympathy with the families of the victims of the Tehran terrorist attacks and wished for speedy recovery of the injured who were over 50.
About the Ministry’s counter-terrorism moves, Alavi said that 45 and 30 terrorist teams were identified and apprehended during the past Iranian calendar year started on March 20, 2016, and the previous year respectively.
He further reported that over 25 terrorist teams were busted in the country in the past 2.5 months ago since the start of the new Iranian year on March 20, 2017.
Although different world countries have witnessed terrorist events, Iran did prevent many terrorist attacks during the past three and a half years, the minister stressed.
Talking about the defenders of the holy shrines in Iraq and Syria, the intelligence minister said that they (defenders) in fact changed the border of defending the Islamic Republic of Iran and transferred it to thousands of kms far from the Iranian borders.
The terrorist group of Daesh (ISIS) has received heavy blows in Iraq and Syria from Iran’s defenders of the holy shrines, the minister noted.
Turning to the recent Tehran terror attack, Alavi said the forces are examining the security and intelligence reasons of the assaults in order to repair the physical protection system.
He went on to say that the Tehran terrorist operation cannot be considered as a successful act as the terrorists did achieve none of their goals.
On the terrorist groups, the minister said, “Our enemy is not Daesh, but rather Daesh is a tool in the hand of our foes.”
The enemy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is bigger than Daesh, and it is being led by US and certain European states, he added.
“We’ve seen that the US presidential candidates vow to ensure the Zionist regime’s security in order to get vote,” he said, adding the Zionist regime is the one considered by the regional countries as the number one enemy of the Muslims.
“You see they do whatever they can to disturb the tranquility of the Islamic countries of Yemen, Iraq and Syria, and (they) detonate bombs in Pakistan and Afghanistan” said Alavi adding that they try in vain to draw a destiny for Iran like what they did for the mentioned states.
The intelligence minister concluded his words by assuring people that security is ensured as the security forces in the country are well vigilant.
