“France Culture” referred to geographical position, population, military power, energy resources and soft power as five components of Iran’s power.
According to the website of the radio, the program said that Iran with a span of land three times bigger than France is world’s 18th largest state, has borders with five countries and is connected to three others via sea.
This, the website said, gives Iran a good access to five very sensitive regions in the world which are very significant from geopolitical point of view.
The website also said another power element for Iran was its 80-million-strong population which comes third in the Middle East.
Military might is another contributor to Iran’s power, according to the radio program, as the country is relying on the combat ability and equipment of Iranan army forces as well as the Islamic Revolution Gaurds Corps which is capable of out-of-border operations like what it did for Hizbullah during 33-day war against Israel.
Huge energy resources which account for 9.3 percent of world’s total proven oil reserves as well as its very big natural gas resources, makes it the first in the world and help the country in maintaining power, it added.
The website went on to refer to Iran’s scientific progress as its “soft power”, explaining that Iran outdid Pakistan, Malaysia and South Africa last year in producing the highest number of scientific publications.
