Senior Indian Shia cleric terms victory of Islamic Revolution an “epochal event”

In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Maulana Syed Jalal Haider Naqvi, President of Shaheed Mottahhari Society in Delhi said: “Islamic Revolution, led by Imam Khomeini (RA) thirty-five years ago, has not only uprooted the authoritarian regime of Shah Reza Pehlavi in Iran, but has also given new lease of life to the Muslims worldwide.

He said that the role of religion, before the 1979 Islamic Revolution, was marginalized. This revolution showed that religion is the only potent mobilizer for overpowering the anti-human forces in the world.

Naqvi noted that Imam Khomeini (RA), a unique personality for the Muslims worldwide with his strong faith and practical devotion imbued with lofty Islamic aspirations, successfully led the revolution in the name of Islam.

“The echo of this landmark revolution is still reverberating throughout the world and has posed the challenges for the Zionists and imperialist powers. They will never be able to cope with it,” he asserted.

Maintaining that victory of the Islamic Revolution has become a source of inspiration for Islamic revivalist movements in many countries, Jalal Haider, who is also the Joint Secretary of Majlis Ulema-e-Hind, said: “These countries are eyeing on Iran which is an examplary model for them. “The Persian Gulf nation, following the ideology that brought success to the revolution, has been able to withstand all the pressures and conspiracies abated by the US led Western powers,” he added.

Naqvi stressed that on this occasion of the thirty-fifth anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution Muslims across the world should reiterate their commitment to sustain the pride and dignity restored through this “epochal event” by upholding the ideology of Imam Khomeini (RA).
