Tehran, IRNA – The Iranian Red Crescent Society has called on the heads of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to pave the way for safeguarding humanitarian rights in the Gaza Strip.

President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) Pir-Hossein Kolivand has written separate letters to President of the IFRC Kate Forbes and President of the ICRC Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, noting that as a result of constant widespread attacks on civilians in the Gaza Strip, we are witnessing sad humanitarian incidents, which end up in death, injury and displacement of numerous people, in particular women and children.

Unfortunately, very distressing and unbelievable reports about attacks by Israeli occupying forces on hospitals, Red Crescent centers, ambulances, and healthcare workers have been circulated on several occasions, he mentioned.

According to the Iranian official, the IRCS calls for finding immediate solutions for the end of the crisis and siege in Gaza and providing healthcare workers with access to needy people and injured ones. The ICRC is expected to carry out immediate efforts to safeguard international humanitarian rights regarding support for civilians and healthcare workers.
