UNICEF says 1.3 mln people displaced in Gaza's Rafah

Tehran, IRNA -- United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has reported that nearly 1.3 million people have been displaced in the streets of Rafah in southern Gaza as a result of the Israeli aggression on the enclave.

The report published early on Tuesday said that more than 600,000 children are among those displaced in southern Gaza because of Israeli w ar.

UNICEF has already expressed concerns about the human tragedy in Gaza, saying over 10,000 Palestinian children are suffering from malnutrition.

Despite the critical conditions facing the children in Gaza, eight countries have recently stopped sending financial aid to United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) because of alleged links between some UNRWA staff members and the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.

The occupying regime of Israel has welcomed the decision to cut aid to UNRWA while Palestinians have fiercely criticized it.

UNRWA Commissioner General Philippe Lazzarini has said that decision will put special areas including Gaza in danger.
