Saudi Arabia’s political outlook for 2030 calls for enhancing cooperation with Iran based on a strategic view that will bring mutual trust and will strengthen good neighborliness, understanding as well as constructive dialog between the two countries, Alanazi said, according to Al-Khalij Online website.
The comments were the first by Alanazi after he arrived in the Iranian capital Tehran on Tuesday afternoon to begin his diplomatic mission after seven years.
The two countries agreed on a China-brokered deal to restore diplomatic ties in March 2023 after they severed them over protests in Iran against the Saudi execution of prominent cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr in January 2016.
Also on Tuesday, Iran’s new ambassador to the kingdom Alireza Enayati arrived in the Saudi capital Riyadh to begin his mission there.
