Normalization with Zionist regime contrary to supporting Palestinians' rights: Iran

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kana’ani has criticized certain Islamic countries for normalizing ties with the Zionist regime, saying that the move is far from political wisdom and contrary to these countries’ responsibility to support the rights of the Palestinian people.

Kana’ani made the comment on Tuesday a day after the Israeli regime inaugurated a new embassy in Bahrain three years after the two sides normalized relations under a US-brokered deal.

“Any normalization with the occupying regime of Al-Quds by Islamic countries is far from political wisdom and contrary to these countries’ humane, moral and international responsibilities to support the undeniable rights of the Palestinian people,” the Iranian spokesman said.

He added that all these are happening as the Zionist regime is on the verge of collapse due to growing internal crises as well as widespread criticism against the regime by international and human rights bodies over its daily crimes against the Palestinian people.

The Iranian official stressed that the normalization of ties with the Zionist regime by a handful of Islamic countries will not affect the Palestinian nation’s strong determination to liberate their land from “Zionist criminals” and will not save the regime from collapsing.

Also, he added, the moves by these Islamic governments have nothing to do with what their people want, citing recent popular uproar in Libya over a meeting between the African country’s foreign minister and her Israeli counterpart in late August.

Kana’ani concluded his remarks by saying that the failure of several normalization plans by certain regional countries can serve as a lesson to other states.
