Raisi made the remarks prior to his departure for a visit to three Latin American countries of Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba early on Monday.
Today, there are many countries in Latin America that are willing to live independently [from the United States], the president said.
He went on to say that good relations have been developed between the Islamic Republic of Iran and those three countries during recent years.
Further, he referred to politics, energy, technology, medicine, industry, agriculture, and economy as the fields of cooperation between Iran and those countries.
Pointing to resistance against arrogance and unilateralism as a common stance adopted by Iran and the three Latin American nations, the Iranian president said today's trip will be a turning point in upgrading “our ties with the Latin American countries.”
Caracas, Venezuela, is the first stop on Raisi's Latin America tour.
The visit is the thirteenth foreign trip by the Iranian president since he took office in August 2021.
