Mirahmadi made announcement on Monday, without specifying the exact timing of the Iraqi minister’s visit.
He said that Al-Shammari and his Iranian counterpart will discuss, among other things, issues related to preparations for commemorating Arba’een which marks the 40th day after the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hossein, the third Shia imam, whose holy shrine is located in the Iraqi city of Karbala.
Mirahmadi was speaking with reporters in Tehran after a meeting with officials from Iranian border provinces, including those from the southwestern province of Khuzestan which is located on the border with Iraq.
During that meeting, according to the deputy interior minister, various issues were discussed, from sending buses to Iraq in order to facilitate transport during Arba’een to dispatching food and water with the aim of helping the Arab country organize the religious ceremony.
