Speaking to reporters after a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Griffiths said that the Iranian government have had close cooperation with the UN regarding the preparation and response to humanitarian crises in the region.
He said that he hyad discussed with Iranian officials the potentials for materializing peace in Yemen.
He also referred to measures adopted by the UN to prevent famine in Yemen.
Griffiths termed the establishment of peace as the most important precondition for delivering aid to Yemen.
Regarding the UN humanitarian operations in Afghanistan, he said that the countries are committed to provinde some $4.6 billion in aid to Afghans.
He noted that the UN has reminded the ruling Taliban group in Afghanistan about its responsibilities with regard to women and girls.
