This biogas plant was inaugurated on Tuesday in a ceremony attended by Iranian Energy Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian.
The plant has a capacity to produce 2.4 megawatt-hour of electricity and thermal energy at high efficiency.
The launch of the biogas plant will lead to a reduction in emission of greenhouse gases, including some 75,000 of metric tons of carbon dioxide per year.
The project also helps cut back on emission of methane.
The plant has been registered under United Nations Kyoto Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), allowing Iran to earn hard currency via selling carbon credits.
