US persists on anti-Iran sanction policy

New York, IRNA – The United States Department of the Treasury has imposed new sanctions on companies, which are allegedly involved in the production or transfer of drones to Russia.

The US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced on Tuesday that it sanctions firms that it claims are involved in the production or ongoing transfer to Russia of Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), including the Shahed Aviation Industries Research Center.

The new embargo list targets Iran’s Shahed Aviation Industries Research Center, the United Arab Emirates’ Success Aviation Services FZC (Success Aviation) and i Jet Global DMCC (iJet), based on the unfounded accusations that these companies are producing and facilitating transfer of Iran-made drones to Russia.

According to treasury.gov, the US Department of State is concurrently designating Russian Private Military Company “Wagner” (PMC Wagner) and Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Aerospace Force (IRGC ASF) and Qods Aviation Industries pursuant to Executive Order (E.O.) 14024.

The report added that two Russian citizens, who have been allegedly involved in the drone transfer, have been sanctioned as well.

Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen emphasized that the United States is determined to impose sanctions on entities and individuals, who support the illegal Russia-imposed war on Ukraine, regardless of where they are stationed.

The West led by the US has accused Iran of delivering drones to Russia to be utilized against Ukraine, while Tehran has time and again ruled out such allegations vehemently. First, the United States leveled the accusation, and then, it claimed that Iran may transfer surface-to-surface missiles to Russia.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian emphasized that the Islamic Republic sold drones to Ukraine months before the onset of the Ukraine war, but any claim on missile delivery is totally wrong.

Iran's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Amir Saeed Iravani underlined that Tehran pursues active neutrality in facing the Ukraine war and the Islamic country did not send any weapon to be used for the conflict.
