In a tweet, Amirabdollahian said that the sanctions target ordinary people and mostly cause harm to vulnerable groups.
“Today I heard and saw first-hand painful sufferings that butterfly children endure due to inhumane sanctions. Sanctions target ordinary people.”
Earlier on Wednesday, Amirabdollahian, accompanied by Foreign Ministry Spokesman Naser Kanaani, paid a visit to a specialized health center for EB (Epidermolysis bullosa) patients in Tehran.
There, the foreign minister expressed regret at the countries involved in the sanctions targeting the medical sector of Iran.
He said that there are more than 1,000 EB patients in Iran, who are in dire need of dressings that Sweden is refusing to provide.
The top diplomat also said that today unilateral sanctions have turned into a modern-day tool at the hands of Western states to violate human rights.
