Spokesman dismisses claims of Iranian-made drone usage in Ukraine by Russia

Tehran, IRNA - Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani on Monday rejected reports that Iran has provided Russia with drones for use in the war in Ukraine.

In reaction to the questions by journalists about Ukrainian official's comment that the Russian army has used Iranian drones in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Nasser Kanaani said the Islamic Republic of Iran considers the reports released about delivering drones to Russia for use in the Ukraine war as baseless and would not confirm them.

He highlighted that since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, Iran has always expressed its principled and clear policy of "active impartiality, opposition to war, and the necessity for the political resolution of differences between the two sides by avoiding violence".

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has had several meetings and contacts with his Russian and Ukrainian counterparts over past months during which he had emphasized the need for the peaceful settlement of the conflict through talks, and expressed Iran’s readiness to help to this process, he underlined.
