-- SCO membership, an opportunity to neutralize sanctions: MP

Membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is a good opportunity to neutralize sanctions, said the spokesperson of the Industries and Mines Committee of the Iranian Parliament.
Talking to Iran Daily, Rouhollah Abbaspour noted that the full-fledged membership of Iran is beneficial for both Tehran and the other member states of the organization.
Iran’s geopolitical position and its economic capacities in the field of imports and exports are considered an opportunity for SCO member countries, the MP said, adding that, on the other hand, the member states of the organization now make up 40% of the world’s population which creates suitable opportunities in various fields for our country.

-- Iran’s clinker exports surge by 29%

Iran reported a major increase in exports of clinker in the five months to late August although figures show that overseas shipments of finished cement dropped slightly over the same period.
Secretary of Iran’s Syndicate of Cement Producers Abdolreza Sheikhan said on Thursday that clinker exports from the country had reached a total of 4.1 million tons over the five months to August 22, up 29% against the same period last year, reported Press TV.

--  Tehran female firefighters commence job

On the occasion of Iran’s Firefighter and Safety Day, 16 female firefighters began working for Tehran Fire Department.  
“These female firefighters have started with their jobs and are stationed at the 77th Tehran Municipality Fire Station,” announced Ghodratollah Modammadi, the managing director of Tehran Municipality Fire Department, according to IRIB News.
He further noted that firefighting is known as the second most stressful job in the world, adding, “The forces working in the field know very well that they must be ready 24 hours a day. They should be present at the site of the accident almost as soon as the alarm sounds, going on a mission that could be their last.”

-- Iran Stresses Right to Defend Against Any Aggression

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman on Friday touched on recent strikes against terrorist hideouts in Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan region, saying the Islamic Republic reserves the right to defend its national security in the face of any act of aggression originating in any territory. “As warned before, the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on international law and the provisions of the United Nations Charter, reserves the right to defend its national security against any act of aggression coming out from any territory,” Nasser Kanaani said in a statement.

-- Iran Ease Past Indonesia in AFC Futsal Asian Cup

Defending champion Iran overpowered Indonesia 5-0 in Group C of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Kuwait 2022 on Wednesday.
Iran, playing with a cast missing most of the big names from their previous campaigns, started brightly and its aggression resulted in the opening goal when Saeid Ahmad Abbasi scored an early goal.
Mahdi Asadshir and Moslem Oladghobad made the scoreboard 3-0 in the first half. Ahmad Abbasi scored his second goal in the second half and Hussein Tayebi scored Team Melli’s fifth goal.

-- Top Iranian General’s Warning to U.S.

The chief staff of the Iranian armed forces on Friday warned U.S. forces against cooperation with anti-Iran terrorists in the Iraqi Kurdistan, stressing Tehran will retaliate against any hostile action against Iranian drones after the country pounded terrorist bases in northern Iraq.
“If the Americans carry out any action against Iranian drones, the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will respond to their hostile measure,” Major General Muhammad Baqeri warned.

--Raisi says he lamented France’s passiveness regarding JCPOA

Speaking in his 7th live interview since he took office late on Wednesday, President Ebrahim Raisi said he lamented France and its President Emmanuel Macron for its passiveness regarding the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the official name for the 2015 nuclear deal.

Speaking about his meeting with Macron in New York on the sidelines of the 77th United Nations General Assembly, Raisi said that the main point he emphasized was that the Americans unilaterally withdrew from the JCPOA and the Europeans failed to fulfill their obligations. 

-- Iran down Chinese Taipei in AFC Futsal Asian Cup

Iran defeated Chinese Taipei 10-1 to book a place in the knockout stage of the 2022 AFC Futsal Asian Cup on Friday. Hossein Tayebi and Saeid Ahmad Abbasi scored three goals each and Salar Aghapour, Mohammadhossein Bazyar, Mehdi Karimi and Alireza Javan were on target as well. Iran, who had started the competition with a 5-0 in Group C opening match on Wednesday, will face Lebanon on Sunday.

The competition is being held in Kuwait from Sept. 27 to Oct. 8.

-- Tehran, Tokyo stress expansion of economic ties

Iranian Oil Minister Javad Oji and Japanese Foreign Affairs Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi in a meeting stressed the need for enhancing the two countries' energy and economic ties, Shana reported.

In the meeting, held in Tokyo on Wednesday evening, Oji said Iran can play an important role in Japan's energy supply and called for boosting the level of economic cooperation between the two countries.
