--‘Third Party Trying to Harm Iran-Azerbaijan Ties’

Iran’s Minister of Interior Ahmad Vahidi said on Wednesday that a third party is seeking to create misunderstanding between Iran and Azerbaijan, but the two countries will not allow it to succeed. 

He met Azerbaijan’s visiting minister of justice and discussed ways to fight drug trafficking. They also had talks on some medicines that are authorized in Iran while they are considered as illegal in Azerbaijan which have caused problems for a number of Iranian tourists or truck drivers in that country.

--Iran Delivers Ukraine ‘Peace Initiative’ to Russia

Iran has delivered a “peace initiative” for ending the Ukraine war, proposed by a European leader, to Russia, Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian said here Wednesday.

Standing next to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a news conference, Amir-Abdollahian confirmed that he had handed over the European proposal that he said was given to Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi.

“There are ideas to help establish peace and stop the fighting in Ukraine, and I shared these ideas with Mr Lavrov,” Amir-Abdollahian said.

--IRGC Temporarily Seizes U.S. Vessel to Prevent Accident

A website close to Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) has shed light on the circumstances surrounding the brief seizure by Iranian naval forces of a U.S. unmanned surface vessel stranded in the Persian Gulf, saying the measure was taken to prevent possible maritime incidents and safeguard shipping lanes.

Nour News reported the naval forces of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) took “timely action” earlier in the day to seize the U.S. vessel, whose “navigational system had failed,” and began towing it with the aim of supporting safe and secure shipping in the Persian Gulf.

--Iran detains and releases U.S. USV

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Nay has detained and then released a U.S. unmanned surface vessel (USV) in the Persian Gulf, according to Nour News.

The news website, which is linked to Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said the IRGC Navy “controlled and towed” an American USV which had lost navigation communications in the Persian Gulf.

--Loading, unloading of goods in ports up 3% in 5 months on year

Loading and unloading of goods in the ports of Iran increased three percent in the first five months of the present Iranian calendar year (March 21-August 22), as compared to the same period of time in the past year, the country’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) announced.

As the PMO reported, 62,865,288 tons of commodities were loaded and unloaded in the ports during the five-month period.

--Iran, Iraq, and Syria to start action plan on dealing with SDS

The Iranian Department of Environment (DOE) will kick off negotiations with Iraq and Syria to launch an action plan for fighting sand and dust storms in the region.

During the early days of the calendar month of Mehr (starting September 23), exchanging expertise between Iran, Iraq, and Syria will start to curb and confront sand and dust storms, IRNA quoted DOE chief Ali Salajeqeh as saying.
