Iran, Mauritius sign economic MoU

Tehran, IRNA – Iran and the Republic of Mauritius signed a special economic-trade memorandum of understanding (MoU) in their first joint economic forum.

Iran and Mauritius held their first joint economic forum, attended by Iran’s Vice Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad-Sadeq Mofatteh and Mauritius’ Minister of Labour, Human Resource Development and Training Soodesh Satkam Callichurn who is also the countries minister of commerce and consumer protection, as well as several other Iranian and Mauritian officials.

During the forum, a senior MIMT official welcomed the establishment of an economic office of Mauritius in Tehran and offered to launch a similar office for Iran in Mauritius.

Callichurn said that the signing of the MoU would allow for an increase in exchanging trade delegations and investment opportunities between the two countries.

He also said that visa waiver, facilitated conditions for businesses, tariff-free exports, and creating an international network of exports for Iran are among the benefits of mutual cooperation between Iran and Mauritius.

Mofatteh expressed discontent over the current trade level between Iran and Mauritius and hoped that the MoU would improve their trade relations.
