Karaj, IRNA – Hamid Jafari, Director of Polio Eradication for the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region, on Wednesday appreciated Iran’s role in uprooting polio.

Speaking during a visit to Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute, he said that one of the biggest achievements of this institute is the production of oral polio vaccine which led to the elimination of the disease in Iran.

Noting that there is a deep relationship between WHO and Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute, the official said that the institute has also been a pioneer in producing vaccines for other childhood diseases like mumps, measles and rubella and has also produced a COVID-19 vaccine.
