Seven more Iranians have lost their lives because of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) over the past 24 hours bringing the total deaths to 141,420, Iran's Health Ministry said on Thursday.
1,775 new cases of infection with COVID-19 were found over the past 24 hours, 207 of whom were hospitalized, it said.
The Iranian Health Ministry noted that 7,064,039 patients out of a total of 7,244,694 infected people have recovered or been discharged from hospitals.
292 COVID-19 patients are in critical conditions and in intensive care units, the ministry added.
The Health Ministry also announced that 64,669,496 Iranians have received the first dose and 58,026,024 people have so far received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Moreover, 27,830,366 people have also received the third shot as the booster jab.
The number of coronavirus vaccines injections reached 40,313 doses throughout the country in the last 24 hours.
None of the Iranian cities are in critical or severe situation in terms of spread of COVID-19 disease.
According to Minister of Health and Medical Education Bahram Einollahi, the administration of President Ebrahim Raisi prioritized fight against the coronavirus, when he came to power last summer.
The minister noted that Iran hit a world record in injecting COVID-19 vaccines with the injection of around 8 million doses per week, which is 1.6 million doses per day.
The Islamic Republic of Iran also succeeded in utilizing a recombinant protein vaccine and weakened version of the virus in order to create herd immunity against the COVID-19 disease among Iranians, the health minister mentioned.
