-- Dehqan calls for using scientific potentials for development of industries
There are good capacities in the field of energy and generators, said Hossein Dehqan, adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Republic for defense industries, adding, “We must use this scientific and research potentials in the service of the development of industries, including defense and non-defense.”
Speaking on the sidelines of his visit to the Materials and Energy Research Center in Alborz Province on Sunday, Dehqan said that MERC officials should introduce the existing potentials and inform the others in order to pave the ground for using these capacities.
-- Iran, Kazakhstan to discuss trade ties
A Kazakhstan delegation led by Trade and Integration Minister Bakhyt Sultanov will visit Tehran today to discuss bilateral trade ties with the Islamic Republic.
The 17th meeting of the Intergovernmental Kazakh-Iranian Commission on Trade-Economic, Scientific-Technical and Cultural Cooperation will be addressed by senior officials including Sultanov and Iranian Minister of Agricultural Jihad Seyyed Javad Sadatinejad in Tehran. The delegation will also hold a meeting with the members of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA).

-- Iran Win CAFA U-19 Futsal Championship Title
Iran have won the title of the CAFA U-19 Futsal Championship. The Iranian team defeated Uzbekistan 7-1 and earned their fourth win in the competition, held in Kyrgyzstan. they had earlier defeated Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in the competition.
Afghanistan’s Omid Ghanbari was named MVP player. Iran also won the Fair Play Award.
-- Qatar, Iran Sign 4 Transportation Agreements
Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Rostam Ghasemi and his Qatari counterpart Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti on Sunday signed four agreements in the fields of transit, shipping and air transport were signed.
Ghasemi discussed establishing regular shipping lines and transit transportation, as well as increasing flights between Iran and Qatar with his Qatari counterpart.
Prior heading to Qatar, Ghasemi announced his country and Qatar planned to set up regular shipping lines between the two countries’ ports.
-- Ahvaz to Host 42nd Takhti Int’l Greco-Roman Cup
The 42nd edition of the Takhti Greco-Roman Cup will be held in Ahvaz, capital of the southwestern Iranian province of Khuzestan. The competition is slated for February 23-25.
The Takhti Cup competition serves as qualification for the 2022 Asian Championships in Mongolia, 2022 Asian Games in China and 2022 World Wrestling Championships in Serbia. The annual tournament is held in honor of late legendary Iranian freestyle wrestler Gholam Reza Takhti, who passed away half a century ago.

-- Trade between Iran, Qatar can reach $1b in next year: TPO head
The head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) said that the value of trade between Iran and Qatar can reach $1 billion in the next year. Alireza Peyman-Pak said, “Trade between Iran and Qatar is currently a small figure of about $300 million-$400 million, while there is the potential to increase to $1 billion next year.”
Mentioning the trip of the president to Qatar, the official said this visit is aimed at attending the meetings of Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), and also meetings between the two countries’ officials in line with the expansion of industrial, trade, transit, and tourism cooperation.
-- 76% of students aged 12-18 inoculated
Some 76 percent of the students aged 12-18 years have received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the latest announcement of the Ministry of Education. Meanwhile, the first shot has been injected to 86 percent of the whole students of this age group.
The total population of students aged 12 to 18 (seventh to twelfth grade) is 6,503,258 people. Accordingly, the number of injections of the first dose among the students is 5,591,179 and the number of injections of the second dose is 4,932,085, IRNA reported on Sunday.
-- Survey seeks to shed new light on Paleolithic life in southwest Iran
An archaeological survey has begun on historical sites in the Lali county, southwestern Khuzestan province, in an attempt to find more traces of human life in the Paleolithic era, the deputy provincial tourism chief has announced. A team of archaeologists led by Mohammad-Javad Shoaei is exploring the Paleolithic period in Lali in this season of the survey, CHTN quoted Ahmadreza Hosseini Borujeni as saying on Sunday.
Currently, the research team is studying areas in Lali such as the Pebdeh Cave, the mountainous section, and the plains of Pebdeh, among others, the official added.
