Following hours of talks at Palais Coburg in Vienna on Friday, top diplomats from Iran, the European Union, and the P4+1 group - Britain, France, Russia, China plus Germany - reached two documents, which include all viewpoints and suggestions of delegations over sanction removal and nuclear issues. This document is not an agreement for reviving commitments and agreements under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), but it would be a basis for continuation of negotiations in the eighth round of Vienna talks.
To reach this phase, delegations from Iran and other parties spent a lot of time because the European trio insisted on their unconstructive stances, saying that the talks should be resumed based on conclusions of the sixth round of talks between the P4+1 and Iran's Rouhani administration, while a new administration has taken power in Tehran and revised the previous drafts.
However, Iranians' principled, rational, and legitimate reasoning helped convince the European side to accept Iran's revision as the basis of serious and result-oriented negotiations.
European Union's representative Enrique Mora, who is co-chair of the Joint Commission meeting of the JCPOA in Vienna, told reporters on Friday that the participants of the last meeting have reached a joint text, which would be utilized as a basis for negotiations to revive the 2015 nuclear deal.
According to the official, the draft text includes viewpoints and suggestions of the P4+1 and Iran on removal of sanctions and nuclear issues as well as way of implementation of future agreements.
The E3 issued a statement, acknowledging their retreat cautiously. The statement said that there are some technical advancements amid the last 24 hours, but they place the negotiations to where they were in July.
The Europeans have so far tried to refrain from using the word "Progress" in negotiations in order to put pressure on Iran and force the Iranians to give concessions, but steadfastness of the Iranian team led the E3 towards accepting legitimate positions of Tehran.
Meanwhile, Iran's top nuclear negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani underlined that the seventh round of Vienna talks was focused on finding common basics to hold rational negotiations.
Bagheri Kani went on to say that the next round of talks can be the last one if the other parties accept Iranians' rational stances and demands.
