Iran javelin thrower breaks world record, bags gold in Tokyo

Tokyo, IRNA – Iranian javelin thrower Saeed Afrooz in F34 category received a gold medal and broke the world and Paralympic record in Tokyo Paralympics 2020.

Afrooz snatched the gold medal for throwing 40.05 meter.

In his first out of three throws, he throw the javelin for 39.48 meters, which secured the gold medal for him and broke the world record. In his second, throw he threw the javelin for 39.40 meters; and in his third throw, he broke the world record again with 40.05 meters. 

He competed with China, Morocco, France, Colombia, New Guinea, Tunisia, and Iraq.

Two Colombian throwers ranked second and third.
