Masoumeh Ebtekar, Vice President for Women and Family Affairs, made the remark in the fourth seminar on issues of Sunni women in Iran on Saturday, noting that subjects such as child marriage and divorce are among the topics of the four rounds of seminars, which have been welcomed by Sunni scholars and activists.
The administration of President Rouhani held the four seminars because it is of the opinion that such issues are important and they should be raised in the Iranian society, she argued.
Pointing to the first seminar, which was held in Kurdistan province, she said that thinkers and lawyers participated in the event and they agreed upon holding talks with Sunni scholars in this respect.
The second round was held in Zahedan, Sistan, and Balouchestan province, with the presence of Mowlavi Abdulhamid, a prominent Sunni cleric, and some other muftis, she said, adding that the third seminar was held in Golestan province, where the participants raised issues such as problems that the Sunni women are facing in today's society of Iran.
As to the life of Hazrat Khadija, the first wife of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), she noted that the first lady of the Islamic world was one of the most successful entrepreneurs and traders in then Saudi Arabia, who played a key role in supporting the Prophet and the religion.
Ebtekar went on to say that research on the life and business of Hazrat Khadija has been accomplished by Iranian researchers, which is an inspiring story for today's women to study.
