Azarbaijan press museum launched in Tabriz

Tabriz, June 14, IRNA – Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Minister inaugurated Azarbaijan Press Museum in Tabriz and unveiled its commemorative stamp on Monday.

Aliasghar Mounesan and several provincial officials as well as the press and cultural figures attended the opening ceremony of the museum which is launched in the Kalkatehchi Historical ouse in Tarbiat street, a well-known historical alley in the city of Tabriz, captial of the northwestern province of East Azarbaijan.

The museum showcases historic newspapers published in East Azarbaijan, West Azarbaijan, Ardabil and Zanjan provinces, known to constitute the historical Azarbaijan region, as well as printing machines, cameras and old journalistic photographs.

Several historic papers of Azarbaijan region which were influential in historical developments in the region and broader Iran have been included in the collections showcased in the museum, along with documents, tools of journalistic work and handwritings and books written by celebrated Azarbaijani journalists in Iran and abroad.

The museum would serve as a place to introduce Iranian and foreign tourists to the history of journalism in Azarbaijan region as the pioneer of press industry in Iran.
