Speaking in a cabinet meeting, President Rouhani criticized some internal political groups for opposing ongoing talks among Iran and other participants of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), informally known as the Iran nuclear deal, saying that their opposition contradicted their positions on supporting the livelihood of Iranian people.
Rouhani said that regardless of internal oppositions, his administration concluded any negotiations it had with foreign countries with victory for Iranians.
“I promise the nation that Vienna talks will end in victory for Iranian nation. We have already taken great steps today,” he maintained.
The President also hailed economic growth despite the coronavirus pandemic conditions and US sanctions pressure, stating that statistics show a growth of 6.5 percent in agriculture, 7.5 percent in industry and mining, and one percent in services, while it was badly hit by the pandemic.
Rouhani mentioned vaccination as a promise kept, saying that the administration imported coronavirus vaccines and supported its production in the country and moves forward with administering vaccine based on specified priorities.
He also touched on the situation in Palestine, urging Islamic countries to do their best to save Palestinians from the atrocious aggression of the Israeli regime.
“We see that the United Nations, Persian Gulf Cooperation Council, and the Arab League are dormant… It’s our duty today to defend Palestinian people and I have no doubt that eventually Palestinian people will win,” the President added.
