Iran, Russia reiterate expansion of economic ties

Moscow, May 19, IRNA – Iran’s Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali and Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov stressed the need for paying more attention to economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries in a meeting held on Tuesday.

Jalali said that a delegation from Iran would attend the St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) to be held June 2-5, 2021.

He also referred to holding the 16th meeting of joint commission on economic and trading cooperation between Iran and Russia as well as easing coronavirus-related restrictions on Iranian business people traveling to Russia as necessary measures towards improving level of bilateral cooperation.

Kobyakov who is also chairman of SPIEF organizing committee welcomed the Iranian delegation to the forum, underlined the necessity of implementing Iran-Russia joint economic plans and also the establishment of an economic project office as a mechanism for expanding economic and trading ties between the two countries.

Jalali also met Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia on CIS Affairs Andrei Rudenko to discuss current developments in the South Caucasus and Iran-Russia cooperation on this area.

In another occasion, Jalali had a meeting with Mikhail Petrakov, Head of the Russian delegation to the Multilateral Negotiations over the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea.

They exchanged views on the Second Caspian Sea Economic Forum and bilateral cooperation in the Caspian Sea. The two sides gave a positive assessment of bilateral cooperation on Caspian Sea affairs and emphasized on continuation of meetings and talks on the issue.
