According to the CWTS Leiden Ranking 2019, 26 Iranian universities ranked among 963 top universities of the world, Head of the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC), Mohammad Javad Dehqani said on Monday.
In 2018, only 23 Iranian universities had ranked among top universities of the globe, the official added.
He noted that among the Muslim countries, Iranian universities have a higher ranking in both quality and quantity.
The CWTS Leiden Ranking 2019 offers important insights into the scientific performance of nearly 1000 major universities worldwide.
The World University Ranking produces top world's best universities based on 13 indicators. The institutions themselves provide the data for the THE ranking. The ranking is also largely based on a reputation survey among international scholars. Leiden University is in 68th place (2018-2019).
