The event coincides with the 13th anniversary of Iran's National Nuclear Energy during which the Islamic Republic of Iran joined the club of four country specialized in manufacturing LINAC.
Chancellor of Isfahan Medical University Tahero Changiz said the LINAC has been designed to treat cancerous patients through radiotherapy waves which are highly demanded in the country.
Mass production of the LINAC will be of on the agenda in the county, he said.
Each set of LINAC costs about Euro 1.5 million while the indigenized one will be one third in terms of price, he said.
A medical linear accelerator (LINAC) is the device most commonly used for external beam radiation treatments for patients with cancer. It delivers high-energy x-rays or electrons to the region of the patient's tumor.
