Iranian athlete Mohammad Nabi Rezaei finished runner up in the U23 men's 1000-meter single-canoe race with a record of 4:00:722.
Erfan Zendi in the men's 1000 meter single-kayak race took the third place with a time of 4:39:689.
The Olympic discipline of canoe sprint is contested on flat water over four distances – 200m, 500m, 1000m & 5000m. Introduced to the Games in 1924 it became a full medal sport by the 1936 Berlin Games.
