Iranian scientist becomes member of Canadian academy

Shahr-e Kord, Sep 4, IRNA – Iranian scientist Masoud Farzaneh Dehkordi has become member of Canadian Academy of Engineering.

Soon after a news was published that Dehkordi's name has been enlisted in the Canadian Academy of Engineering list on June 26, 2017, the Iranian scientist's name was officially put in the academy's list of scientists, faculty member of Shahr-e Kord University Siavash Saie told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Monday.

NSERC Leo-Derikx, Circle of Excellence, Charles-Biddle and Whitehead Memorial Lecture Award are among other awards received by Iranian scientist.

Professor has so far written three books which have been published by Springer, John Wiley and McGraw-Hill.

Masoud Farzaneh received his power engineering degree from Polytechnic of Tehran in 1973. After obtaining his Masters jointly from Institut National Polytechnique and Université Paul Sabatier in France, he received his PhD in 1980, from the same institutions. Later, in 1986, he obtained a Doctorat d'état ès sciences from Université Paul Sabatier.

Professor Farzaneh has done pioneering work in the field of power engineering, including high voltage engineering, the impact of cold climate on overhead power network equipment, corona induced vibration, partial and arc discharge on ice surface and air intervals, de-icing techniques, self-cleaning and icephobic coatings for power networks. Professor Farzaneh is recognized for his significant and pioneering research in these areas through extensive publications comprising about 700 technical research refereed journals and conference proceeding papers, as well as 3 books and 14 book chapters.

These three books have been translated in Chinese. As mentor, he has trained 240 highly qualified personnel, including 47 PhDs, 44 Masters and 38 Postdoctoral.
