Ezzatollah Khazen added that both sides reached a preliminary agreement in this regard and postponed discussions about the plant’s location, capacity and export markets.
Khazen said that the company will dispatch a delegation to Tunisia to execute feasibility studies on January 31, 2015.
“The final contract is expected to be signed on February 28, 2015.”
The official also said both sides have not determined their share of the plant yet.
“Tunisia is to fund the project while Iran will provide the country with the technology. We selected Tunisia to have a more active presence in western and northern Africa,” he said.
Khazen said Tunisia’s favorable political relations with Iran and the country’s access to high seas make it a wise choice for Iran, which make investment economical.
