-- Iran’s imports of airliners at 66 in over two years to March
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Iran announced imports of 66 airliners of different types from the date the current Iranian government took office in August 2021 till March 2024. Most of the imported airliners were large wide-body planes, the CAA spokesman Jafar Yazarlou told IRNA on Sunday.
Also, seven light aircraft for training and transporting organs of brain-dead patients have been imported to the country, Yazarlou added. During the mentioned period, five helicopters were imported to the country, he said, adding that 14 airliners have been overhauled and joined the Iranian airlines during the period.
-- Private sector supports weekends change to Friday-Saturday plan
The private sector of Iran has begun efforts to persuade the Parliament and state-run sector to change the country’s system of holidays into one more easily coordinated with global trade.
The head of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (TCCIMA) said on Sunday that “We expect the Parliament to consider the opinions of the private sector in determining the weekend holidays.”
Mahmoud Najafi-Arab also claimed that in the private sector, you cannot find even one person who is ready to accept Thursday and Friday holidays. He added that we have announced in different ways that instead of Thursday and Friday, Friday and Saturday could be suitable to be adopted as weekend in Iran.
-- Iran to host economy ministers of African states: TPOI
Iran will host economy ministers from more than 40 African countries at the second Iran-Africa International Summit set to be held later this month, an official at the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) said.
The deputy head of the international businesses promotion office of the TPOI pointed to the significance of trade with African states and added that African countries are home to numerous unknown trade opportunities and will play a leading role in global trade in the future.

-- Afghanistan’s 1st Rail Cargo Exported to Turkey Via Iran
Afghanistan’s first export shipment containing 1,100 metric tons of mineral ore was exported by train from Roznak station to Turkey via Iran.
In a statement, the Afghanistan Railway Department announced that this export included talc mineral exported to the city of Mersin, Turkey. This is the first shipment of Afghanistan’s “talc” that has gone to Turkey through Iran, the report added.
-- Exports of Food, Agricultural Products Jump 20% in One Year
Spokesman for Iran’s House of Industry, Mine and Trade Rouhollah Latifi on Sunday said that the export of food and agricultural products from the country in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended March 19, 2024) registered a 20 percent growth in value compared to a year earlier.
Latifi said $6.3 billion of animal, fishery, agricultural and food products were exported from the country between March 21, 2023, and March 19, 2024, showing a 20.5 percent hike compared to the previous year.
-- Iran, Syria Call for Implementing Joint Industrial Projects
An Iranian delegation currently in Damascus has met with Syrian government officials to discuss the implementation process of joint industrial projects, with both sides emphasizing the need to boost economic cooperation, especially among private companies of the two countries.
Iranian Ambassador to Syria Hussein Akbari and his accompanying delegation met with Syrian officials such as Mohammad Samer al-Khalil, the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Abdul Qadir Jokhdar, the Minister of Industries, and Fadi al-Khalil, the head of Syria’s International Cooperation and Planning Organization.

-- Iran start 2024 CAFA U18 Women’s Championship in style
Iran defeated Uzbekistan 4-2 at the 2024 CAFA U18 Women’s Championship on Sunday. Maedeh Birang, Tania Jahanshahi, Maryam Dini and Somayeh Esmaeili were on target for Iran. The Persian girls are also scheduled to play Turkmenistan (Monday), Tajikistan (Friday) and Kyrgyzstan (Sunday).
The tournament plays an important role and aims to support the general popularization of the Women’s game in the region and provide platform to prepare the teams of Central Asian member associations for the Continental competition AFC U20 Women’s Championship as well as showcasing their skills and talents through all CAFA media channels.
-- Quranic calligraphy collection unveiled at Niavaran Cultural Center
The "Dowlat of Quran" collection, featuring unseen calligraphy works by Iranian master calligrapher Yadollah Kaboli, was recently unveiled at the Niavaran Cultural Center in northern Tehran.
The collection, which highlights the artistry of Quranic calligraphy, comprises 15 pieces of equal dimensions and size that were penned during the holy month of Ramadan in 1997, and is one of the most unique collections in the field of Quranic works, Mehr reported on Sunday.
-- Persepolis director underscores fight against lichens
Research and field investigation for combating lichens is still underway on the stones in Persepolis, a celebrated World Heritage site in southern Iran, the World Heritage site’s director said on Sunday. “Moreover, documentation of the location of the lichens is ongoing,” Alireza Askari-Chaverdi said.
“Lichens are one of the most damaging factors to historical buildings, especially stone monuments. The operation of cleaning lichen in Persepolis is carried out in workshop format by a team of conservation and restoration experts and continues to this day.”
