Israeli opposition urges emergency Knesset meeting on danger of war with Iran

Tehran, IRNA – The Israeli opposition party has requested an emergency meeting of the Israeli parliament (the Knesset) to discuss the ongoing war on Gaza and the potential risk of war with Iran, according to Zionist news sources.

The Palestinian Sama news agency cited Zionist sources as saying on Monday that Israeli opposition party members have called for an emergency meeting of the Knesset to discuss several issues, including the ongoing war with Gaza, the possibility of a prisoner swap agreement, a ceasefire agreement, and the risk of war with Iran.

Opposition leader Yair Lapid reminded Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the Knesset would support him in the prisoner swap agreement and urged him to bring back the Zionist prisoners.

Meanwhile, Israeli finance minister Bezalel Smotrich and minister of national security Itamar Ben-Gvir were critical of Netanyahu's decisions regarding the Gaza war.

In reaction to the withdrawal of the Zionist army's forces from the southern Gaza city of Khan Yunis, Ben-Gvir stated, "If Netanyahu ends the war without a massive attack on Rafah to destroy Hamas, he will not be the prime minister of Israel".

Anti-Netanyahu rallies have become common occurrences in Tel Aviv and other occupied cities, with protesters demanding the removal of Netanyahu and holding of early elections. They also call for an immediate agreement to exchange captives held in Gaza.

Since the beginning of the Al-Aqsa Storm operation on October 7 last year, Israelis have held a number of demonstrations against the policies of Netanyahu while demanding him to speed up the release of those who remained held in Gaza.
