Iraqi Islamic Resistance conducts rocket attack on US base in Syria

Tehran, IRNA -- The Iraqi Islamic Resistance has targeted a US military base in Koniko gas field in eastern Syria with rockets.

According to news reports, the US military base in Koniko gas field came under rocket attack on Saturday evening.

The attack was conducted by the Iraqi Islamic Resistance group that fired several rockets.

Beirut-based Al Mayadeen news network also reported that the US was moving its forces from a base in al-Hasakah, northeast Syria, to another one in the same region.

This comes as part of a redeployment effort carried out by US forces in an attempt to protect themselves against attacks by Iraq-based resistance groups who consider the US military presence as a source of instability in the region and have been pushing for the expulsion of American troops from their country.

According to Al Mayadeen's sources, the US forces have been attacked around 100 times since the Islamic Resistance in Iraq announced that, in support of Gaza, it would start operations against US forces in Syria and Iraq.

The operations began in response to the Israeli aggression on Gaza, as well as the US support for the regime’s brutal crimes against Palestinians in the besieged territory.

Israel waged the Gaza war on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, carried out a surprise operation into the occupied territories in retaliation for the regime’s ceaseless atrocities against the Palestinian people over the past seven decades.

With the Israeli war continuing unabated and killing Palestinian civilians in the besieged territory, other resistance movements and groups in the region, including Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Yemen’s Ansarullah, and Iraq’s fighters launched military operations against US and Israeli interests in an effort to exert pressure on the regime to end its genocidal war.
