The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 18th General Assembly meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) in the Iranian capital.
Speaking during the meeting, the IRNA chief said that “at a time that many media do not narrate the realities of independent countries correctly, our increased cooperation can be effective in changing this atmosphere.”
Naderi expressed hope that the successful holding of the OANA meeting in Tehran would open a new chapter in cooperation of independent news agencies.
Referring to a “media terrorism” campaign against certain countries, he said that cooperation between IRNA and Tass is inevitable to help fight this reprehensible phenomenon.
In the meantime, TASS Managing Director Sergei Mikhailov said that Tass has many ideas to help boost cooperation among OANA member news agencies.
Today like Iran, Russia is exposed to media terrorism, he said, adding that media cooperation between the two countries, between IRNA and Tass in particular, would help counter false news.
