Iran, Serbia agree to boost cooperation on banking, copper processing

Tehran, IRNA – Officials from Iran and Serbia on Wednesday called for promotion of relations between the two sides, discussing ways to expand cooperation in different fields from copper processing to banking and insurance.

All those issues were discussed during separate meetings by Alireza Peimanpak, Head of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, with Serbian ministers in Belgrade.

In the meeting with Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlović, Iranian delegates offered solutions on how to supply Serbia with petrochemical products.

The Serbian minister welcomed the solutions and ordered the formation of a working group for follow-up talks.

She also announced her country’s readiness that Iran takes charge of the processing of copper extracted from Serbia’s mines, which was welcomed by the Iranian delegation.

The two sides discussed renewable energies as well.

Peimanpak also met Minister of Finance Siniša Mali, with the two discussing the formation of a joint customs platform and agreeing to modify the current process of discharging goods.

In addition, they agreed to pave ground for connection between selected banks of the two countries.

The Serbian minister, speaking during the meeting, issued required orders to the selected banks in her country.

Cooperation in insurance, as well as cryptocurrency and joint ventures, were other issues on top agenda.

The Iranian delegation also announced the Islamic Republic's readiness to export technical and engineering services, as well as nano and knowledge-based products coupled with medical equipment.
