Biden and travel in a weakness position

Tehran, IRNA – US President Joe Biden's trip to Saudi Arabia and Israel is taking place while Biden is in a weak position by distancing himself from the slogans of human rights of the Democratic Party amid internal opposition and the need to change the approach in foreign policy.

After coming to power in the presidential election eighteen months ago, Joe Biden had a cold approach towards Israel and Saudi Arabia due to the support of Netanyahu for Trump and the positive relations of the Republican Party with Saudi Arabia and Bin Salman. Also, Saudi Arabia in the last eighteen months was not as warm as the relations during the Trump era. This approach caused Israel and Saudi Arabia to experience not-so-warm relations with the new American government.

Now, due to the Russia-Ukraine war and the West facing an economic crisis, the Biden government is seeking to restore relations with Saudi Arabia. In order to meet America's need to manage the price of oil and gas, attract Saudi investments in America, sell weapons to Riyadh, and milk Al Saud again, Biden seeks to improve his relations with the Saudi rulers.

For this reason, the assassination of Khashoggi, a journalist critical of Riyadh by Bin Salman's agents in Turkey, and Saudi Arabia's aggression against Yemen are no longer a priority for America. We have not forgotten that Biden had given permission for the media to publish the findings of the American intelligence agencies about Bin Salman's role in killing Jamal Khashoggi.

A month before his first trip to Saudi Arabia, Joe Biden was also in a weak position when he faced criticism about meeting with Mohammed bin Salman and said, "I am not going to meet with [Mohammed bin Salman]. I'm going to an international summit." Previously, the President of the United States stated that the purpose of his visit to Saudi Arabia next month is to strengthen the national interests of the United States.

The American president is not happy with the positions of Saudi Arabia toward Russia in the war with Ukraine, and he does not like Riyadh's abstention vote on the American resolution to expel Russia from the United Nations Human Rights Commission. Therefore, it is necessary for the USA to strengthen Riyadh's desire to support the positions of the West against Russia.

In connection with Biden's visit to Tel Aviv, the Democratic Party needs to win the votes of the Jews in the congressional elections, and for this reason, it emphasized the necessity of securing Israel's security and called it one of the priorities of the American foreign policy.

Of course, Biden is going to Tel Aviv after the resignation of the former Prime Minister of the Zionist regime, Naftali Bennett, while the new Prime Minister, Yair Lapid, has also come to power temporarily, and there are questions about his ability to withdraw Israel's crisis.

Biden also considers the normalization of Saudi Arabia's relations as the pole of the Arab world with the Zionist regime, and for this reason, he will go from Tel Aviv to Jeddah to show that he is inclined to strengthen the relations between Tel Aviv and Riyadh.

During his trip to Riyadh, Biden will try to strengthen Saudi Arabia's anti-Iranian approach and, at the same time, convince the Saudi rulers that the US' desire to return to the JCPOA is not considered an action against Saudi interests.

At the same time, the talks between Tehran and Riyadh, passing the security level, are on the way to becoming political talks and possibly reopening the embassies of the two countries.

If during this trip, Saudi Arabia and Israel can convince Biden to continue the anti-Iranian sanctions, we should expect the continuation.
