D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation (D-8) Secretary-General Isiaka Abdulqadir Imam, who is visiting Tehran, met and conferred with Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Affairs Mehdi Safari.
The D-8 secretary-general expressed delight for having the opportunity to visit Iran and presented the latest report on cooperation in that organization to the Iranian deputy foreign minister.
He referred to the agreements among member countries in such fields as commerce, industries, agriculture, technology, sciences, communications, and aviation, saying that the Islamic Republic of Iran can play a decisive role in implementing those objectives.
Isiaka Abdulqadir Imam meanwhile elaborated on some projects of the D-8 that are already being implemented in the commerce field, including the establishment of a payment system, and the D-8 Bartered Transactions Chamber.
He also proposed that the member countries will implement their joint regional projects in collaboration with Iran.
The deputy foreign minister for economic diplomacy affairs, too, said in the meeting that the multilateral economic cooperation organizations are very important in the economic diplomacy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, announcing Tehran’s readiness for assisting D-8 to implement its projects.
Safari referred to Iran’s capabilities in various fields, such as nanotechnology, biotechnology, and other science-based products, agricultural products, technical and engineering services, and participation in implementing various projects in any of the D-8 countries.
