In an interview with IRNA, Mohammad Taqi Hashemi, director-general of aliens and foreign immigrants' affairs in the governorate-general of northeast Iranian Razavi Khorasan province, welcomed the international immigration officials' trip to Iran, saying that such visits would provide foreign and international officials with an opportunity to get acquainted with the situation of refugees in Iran and abide by their duties in this regard.
He referred to a visit by the United Nations officials from Iran that led to a 300-million-dollar allocation in the 2022 program, according to Hashemi.
The official also mentioned Japanese ambassadors' visit from Mashhad city, capital of Razavi Khorasan Province, during which the Japanese envoy committed 4.6 million dollars in assistance to Afghan refugees living in the province.
Hashemi also said that the cruel sanctions imposed by the United States against the Iranian nation have severely impacted Iran's ability in helping Afghan refugees, so that Iran has failed to supply the medical needs of refugees, for example.
Iran doesn't discriminate against Afghan nationals, he said, adding that all Afghan refugees, even those who have illegally entered Iran, have been vaccinated against the coronavirus and they can even receive the booster dose.
