The founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the late Imam Khomeini, had long before the Islamic Revolution supported the ideals of the Palestinian nation both verbally and in practice.
After the victory of the revolution this support was further highlighted, and Islamic unity was deemed by the late Imam Khomeini as the most vital need for not only achieving that objective, but also many more.
The establishment of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) was a move aimed at promoting Islamic unity and solidarity.
The first Islamic Unity Conference was held in the year 1986 for a week in Tehran, sponsored by the WFPIST, and in addition to sponsoring 35 such conferences, the organization has published some 1,000 books on Islamic unity in Persian, Arabic and English languages.
At the 35th Islamic Unity Conference this year, 514 papers were received by the conference secretariat, 230 of them were presented as lectures, in the presence of 52 guests from 16 counties at the conference hall, while 180 lecturers, too participated in the conference through videoconference facilities virtually.
Meanwhile, 180 addresses, too, were presented by the Iranian cultural and political personalities, as well as 24 webinar meeting, each in the presence of 15 lecturers of the Islamic world.
Naturalizing ties with Zionist regime, a big sin
In this conference, too, like all previous ones, the occupation of the Palestinians' lands was considered as the greatest peril in the Islamic world and the biggest obstacle in the path towards Islamic unity.
The moves made by some regional countries aimed at naturalizing full relations with the occupier Zionist regime was considered as a great sin, and an unforgivable fault, stressing that those countries must repent and return to the path of Islamic unity and solidarity in this year’s Islamic Unity Conference.
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei’s role in promotion of the Islamic unity, and pushing forth the global demand for liberation of Palestine, too, was stressed by the conference participants, including President Raisi’s consultant on tribal and religious affairs Mamusta Abdul-Salam Karimi, who said: The Islamic Unity Week should not be restricted to one week, but expanded to the whole years’ weeks, months, and days.
