Regional coop to guarantee endogenous security, help overcome crises

Tehran, IRNA - The Islamic Republic of Iran's 13th administration is firmly committed to developing regional cooperation, because it believes that the regional security will be secured only through good neighborliness and enhanced interactions among regional nations, which will come true when foreign countries are not allowed to interfere in regional affairs.

Iran prioritizes localized and endogenous security. West Asia has been always one of the remarkable regions concerning security strategies. Creation of a regional security depends upon a collaborative structure based on confidence-building attempts. The Islamic Republic's policy has been founded on constructive interaction with regional states based on efforts to remove threats.

The Iranian authorities have constantly underlined the need for a security policy rooted in regional cooperation. President Ebrahim Raisi called for negotiations among regional countries to resolve disputes, deescalate tensions and stop foreign interference in order to guarantee sustainable security in the region.

Newly-appointed Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian emphasized during his first regional tour to Iraq and Syria that Tehran is ready to support security, stability, independence, territorial integrity and upgrade of Iraq in regional and international arenas.

Pointing to the losses inflicted by Daesh (ISIS) terrorists on Iraq, Amirabdollahian noted that public will and support from religious scholars helped the country overcome the security threat.

He further noted that religious, cultural, historical and geographical commonalities link governments and nations of the region, adding that the Islamic Republic promotes peace and security via intra-regional negotiations.

The Iranian top diplomat participated in the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership on August 28, where heads of states, chairmen of international and regional organizations as well as foreign ministers from France, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, and Iran were present.

However, certain regional countries are willing to be dependent on ultra-regional powers to guarantee their own security, while the foreign powers showed that they are not a reliable source for peace and stability in the region. Afghanistan is the most recent example for the security founded upon a foreign power.

In fact, foreigners led by the United States are meddlesome players, who are playing the role of stumbling blocks in the way of regional cooperation and are exacerbating rivalries and hostilities throughout the region; therefore, as the regional and ultra-regional factors indicate, the paradigm of collaborative and concerted security seems to be the best strategy to improve the stability in the region.
